AWARDS & HONORS
November 30, 2007 -- Each fall the Southern Artists' League has a
regional members only juried exhibition. "Carapace"
a large buckeye burl with fluted edges hand-carved by Bob took the Third
Place Award at the Turner Center for the Arts venue.
November 8, 2007 -- The Gadsden Arts Center presents their Annual Art in
Gadsden "holiday" juried exhibit; this year 109 regional artists were
represented. The Second Place Award, sponsored by Capital City Bank,
was presented to Bob for "Alexandrina"
a creation of Spalted Norfolk Island Pine, Red Cedar, Cherry and African
Blackwood....plus a touch of Turquoise.
November 5, 2005 -- The judges of the The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival
selected two pieces to be juried: a lovely open form created of
Ambrosia Maple and a
large lidded work turned from a
Eucalyptus Burl.
Bob received an Award of
Merit for the Ambrosia Maple piece. Also, WEAR-TV presented him
with a Sponsor's Choice Award.
May 7, 2005 -- At the
ArtsQuest Festival, held annually in Destin, Florida, and presented by
the Cultural Arts Association,
Bob was
selected to receive the
Judge's Choice Award.
April 16, 2005 -- An
Award of Excellence was presented to
Bob by the judges of the
Chain of Parks Fine Art Festival for
his body of work. LeMoyne Art Foundation,
Tallahassee's premiere gallery, sponsors this annual event.
April, 2005 -- Woodezine Magazine,
an on-line publication, selected Bob as the "Woodturner
of the Month."
November 19, 2004 -- Bob's
"Red Cedar"
woodturning was recognized by receiving an
Honorable Mention at the 16th
Annual Arts in Gadsden, the premier event each year at the Gadsden Arts Center.
October 23, 2004 -- The judges of the Destin Festival of Arts, sponsored
by the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, presented an
Award of Merit to Bob for his
body of work.
October 18, 2004 -- Southern Artists League presented Bob with a
Certificate of Merit for
his Norfolk Island Pine woodturned art at the annual "Regional Juried Exhibition" held at the Turner Center for the Arts in Valdosta.
October 23, 2003 -- Each year the Florida Forest Festival holds a fine
art competition. Bob received The Award of Merit for his woodturnings:
Red Cedar,
Grapefruit, and
Norfolk Island Pine.
September 6, 2003 -- The Jurors of the Riverside Arts Festival, held
annually in Jacksonville, FL, presented Bob with the
Award of Distinction.
May 12, 2003 -- At the Best of the Spring Into Art Exhibit held at
the Turner Center for the Arts in Valdosta, Georgia, Bob received two
Honorable Mention Ribbons one each for the two pieces that were selected for
the exhibition.
May 9, 2003 -- An Award Of Merit was given to Bob for his body of work at
ArtsQuest on the Bay, held at Sandestin, Florida.
April 12, 2003 -- Best in Media: Wood award was presented to Bob for his
superior wood-turned sculptures during the Chain of Parks Art Festival.
This annual Tallahassee event is sponsored by the LeMoyne Art Foundation,
the area's premiere gallery.
February 16, 2002 -- The prestigious ArtiGras Festival, held each year in
Jupiter, FL, awarded Bob second place in wood for his body of work.
April 13-14, 2002 -- The Collector's Choice Award was presented to Bob at
the Chain of Parks Fine Art Festival, hosted by LeMoyne Art Foundation,
Tallahassee, FL.
May 18, 2002 -- Best of Show ribbon was given to Bob at Artopia, an
annual fund raiser, held at LeMoyne Art Foundation in Tallahassee, FL.
October 5, 2002 -- At the 16th Annual Lake Mary-Heathrow Festival of the
Arts, rated as one of the Top 200 Shows in America by Sunshine Artists, Bob
was honored with an Award of Merit.
October 19, 2002 -- The Florida Forest Festival Fine Art Show selected
Bob's creation "North Florida Rhapsody" for a Second Place Award.
April 7, 2001 --Tallahassee Chain of Parks Art
Festival (which included painters, ceramic artists, sculptors, from all over
the southeast) presented by LeMoyne Art Foundation, awarded the Third Place
Ribbon to Bob for his woodturnings.
April 20, 2001 -- The Cultural Resources Commission, Arts Agency for
Tallahassee and Leon County, presented Bob the Third Place Award for his
beautiful "Pyrographic Morning Glories" vase entry for the Creative
Tallahassee 2001 exhibition at City Hall Art Gallery.
May 4, 2001 -- At the Florida Craftsmen's Association show, Northern
Spectrum II, Bob received an Honorable Mention for his unique woodturning of
Royal Poinciana.
May 11, 2001 -- The Artists' League annual exhibition, held at FSU Museum of
Fine Art, presented Bob the First Award for his woodturning, "St. George
Island Memories" created from a Florida palm tree.
October 20, 2001 -- The 46th Florida Forest
Festival Fine Art Show awarded Bob a third place ribbon for his exquisite
Royal Poinciana turning. |
